Why Ecclesiastes? An Introduction | Ecclesiastes 1:2-3, 12:13 | Week 1

This morning we introduce the Book of Ecclesiastes. One commentator wrote that “there may be less agreement about the interpretation of Ecclesiastes than there is about any other biblical book, even the Revelation of John!” Written by a man who had everything, Ecclesiastes provides a raw and unfiltered view of life on earth. It recognizes the apparent futility in everything on earth, and yet the author finds a silver lining for our lives here. That silver lining is found in relationship with our Creator, enjoying Him over and above any specific outcome that we might seek. Joy, fulfillment, meaning, and purpose are NOT found in any type of success or human experience, but rather is found in fellowship with the Lord.
